Manager and Coach Volunteer Requirements

Union Park Little League

This one page checklist summarizes everything managers and coaches must complete before participating in any team activities. These requirements are mandatory and must be completed every season unless otherwise noted.

Required Steps

  1. Volunteer Application (SportsConnect)
    Register as a volunteer and complete the Little League Volunteer Application through SportsConnect for the current season.
  2. JDP Background Check (SportsConnect)
    Complete the annual background check authorization when prompted through SportsConnect or JDP.
  3. Florida Fingerprint Background Check (LiveScan) ***NEW VOLUNTEERS IN 2026 ONLY***
    Complete a Level 2 fingerprint based background check using the league ORI.

  4. Little League Abuse Awareness Training
    Complete the required annual training and submit your certificate of completion.
  5. Diamond Leader Training
    Complete Diamond Leader Training. This is required for all managers, coaches, and assistant coaches.
  6. Code of Conduct
    Review and sign the Union Park Little League Volunteer Code of Conduct.
  7. Final Approval
    League officials will verify completion of all requirements and approve your volunteer status in SportsConnect.

  • All steps must be completed before you may work with players.
  • Approval is valid only for the current season.
  • Missing or incomplete items will delay approval.

Complete the Little League Volunteer Application

Required annually for all volunteers.

What you must do

  1. Register as a volunteer through SportsConnect for the current season.
  2. Complete the Little League Volunteer Application in full.
  3. Submit the application electronically.

Important notes

  • This application is required every year for all volunteers, including managers, coaches, assistant coaches, team parents, and board volunteers who have regular contact with players.
  • Submitting the application includes your authorization for the required background screening steps.
  • Use your legal name and accurate date of birth to avoid delays with screening.
  • Incomplete applications will delay approval and may prevent participation until corrected.

Complete the JDP Background Check Through SportsConnect

Required annually for all managers, coaches, and assistant coaches.

Union Park Little League conducts required Little League background checks using JDP through the SportsConnect platform.

What you must do

  1. Watch for an email from SportsConnect or JDP requesting background check authorization.
  2. Open the email and follow the instructions to begin the background check.
  3. Enter your information exactly as it appears on your government issued photo ID.
  4. Submit the background check authorization promptly to avoid delays.

Important notes

  • This background check is required every year, even if you have completed one in a prior season.
  • Failure to complete the JDP background check will result in delayed or denied volunteer approval.
  • Background check results are reviewed only by authorized league officials.
  • You may not participate in any practices, games, or team activities until this step is completed and approved.

Timing and follow up

Once submitted, background check processing times may vary. If you believe you have completed this step but do not see approval reflected in SportsConnect, contact the Player Agent for your division.

Complete Florida Fingerprint Based Background Check (LiveScan)

Required for all NEW managers, coaches, and assistant coaches. This is NOT Required for returning volunteers in 2026.

Union Park Little League requires a fingerprint based Level 2 background screening to meet Florida youth protection standards. Fingerprints must be submitted using the league’s assigned ORI.

Use this ORI only when completing fingerprinting for Union Park Little League.

What you must do

  1. Locate an approved Florida LiveScan fingerprinting provider. Search for locations here: https://www.certifixlivescan.com/
  2. Bring a valid government issued photo ID to your appointment.
  3. Provide the league ORI exactly as listed above.
  4. Complete fingerprint submission for a Level 2 background screening.

Important notes

  • Do not complete fingerprinting without the correct ORI. Fingerprints submitted under an incorrect ORI cannot be retrieved or reassigned.
  • LiveScan fees are paid directly to the fingerprinting provider at the time of service.
  • Fingerprint results are reviewed only by authorized league officials.
  • You may not participate in any practices, games, or team activities until this step is completed and approved.

Refund information

  • A refund may be available for managers and coaches who complete fingerprinting.
  • Refund eligibility and amounts may vary.
  • Contact the Player Agent for reimbursement instructions before or after completing fingerprinting.

Complete Little League Abuse Awareness Training

Required annually for all volunteers.

Little League International requires all volunteers to complete Abuse Awareness Training each season as part of its Child Protection Program.

What you must do

  1. Visit the official Little League Abuse Awareness Training course.
  2. Complete the training in its entirety.
  3. Save your certificate of completion (PDF or screenshot).
  4. Upload or submit your certificate as instructed by Union Park Little League.

Complete Diamond Leader Training

Required for all managers, coaches, and assistant coaches.

Union Park Little League requires Diamond Leader Training for every coach to ensure a consistent, player first coaching environment and full compliance with Little League child protection standards.

What you must do

  1. Visit the official Little League Diamond Leader Training program.
  2. Complete the training course in full.
  3. Save your confirmation of completion.
  4. Upload or submit proof of completion as instructed by Union Park Little League.

Sign the Union Park Little League Code of Conduct

Required for all managers, coaches, and assistant coaches.

Union Park Little League requires all volunteers to review and acknowledge the league’s Code of Conduct, which is based on Little League International standards for behavior, safety, and sportsmanship.

What you must do

  1. Review the Union Park Little League Volunteer Code of Conduct in full.
  2. Acknowledge and sign the Code of Conduct electronically through the league’s designated form.

Final Review and Approval

Required before you may participate in any team activities.

After you have completed all prior steps, Union Park Little League will conduct a final compliance review to verify that all requirements have been met.

What happens next

  1. League officials review completion of all required steps, including applications, background checks, training, and acknowledgments.
  2. Your volunteer status is updated and approved in SportsConnect.
  3. You will be notified once you are officially cleared to participate.

  • You may not participate in practices, games, or any team related activities until approval is confirmed.
  • Incomplete or missing items will delay approval.
  • Approval applies only to the current season and must be renewed annually.

If you believe you have completed all steps but do not see approval reflected in SportsConnect, contact the Player Agent for your division so the issue can be reviewed.
