Volunteer Opportunities

Union Park Little League is a volunteer-run organization. Our league depends on dedicated volunteers to provide a safe, organized, and positive experience for our players and families.

Whether you can help on the field, behind the scenes, or at special events, there is a role for you. No prior experience is required for many positions.

On-Field Volunteer Roles

Managers

Managers are responsible for leading a team throughout the season, organizing practices, and supporting player development in a positive environment.

Baseball and softball knowledge is helpful but not required. Training and support are provided.

Assistant Coaches

Assistant Coaches support the Manager during practices and games and help with instruction and supervision.

This is a great role for parents who want to be involved on the field with a flexible time commitment.

Umpires

Volunteer umpires help officiate games and ensure rules are applied consistently and fairly.

Training is provided. Umpires play a critical role in player safety and sportsmanship.

Team Parents

Team Parents assist with communication, coordination, and team logistics throughout the season.

This role helps keep teams organized and supports coaches and families.

League Operations and Support Roles

Concessions Staff

Concessions volunteers help operate the concession stand during games and events.

This is one of the most important roles for supporting league operations and fundraising.

Social Media

Social Media volunteers help share league updates, announcements, and highlights across our platforms.

Photography, content creation, or posting experience is helpful but not required.

Sponsorships

Sponsorship volunteers assist with outreach to local businesses and managing sponsor relationships.

This role directly supports league funding and helps keep registration costs affordable.

Marketing

Marketing volunteers support league promotion, community outreach, and special initiatives.

Graphic design, writing, or event promotion skills are a plus but not required.

Volunteer Requirements

All volunteers must comply with Little League and Union Park Little League safety requirements. This includes completing:

  • Little League Volunteer Application
  • Background check
  • Required safety and abuse awareness training

These requirements help ensure a safe environment for all participants.

Union Park Little League Volunteer Opportunities

Concession Stand

We know that volunteering for the 1st time can be intimidating & stressful. We have made every effort to make the volunteering process as easy as possible. There will always be a board member on site if there are any questions you may have and you will never be the only volunteer in concession. We encourage anyone who has not volunteered before to please complete the basic volunteer application and stop by for a mini training session.

What to Expect When You Are Volunteering in Concession

Grill Operator: Turn on and operate ALL cooking equipment, season & cook hot foods such as hotdogs and hamburgers, clean cooking equipment. (Must be over 18 years old)
Greeter: Greet ALL patrons with a smile, assist with menu item description and take orders. (Must be 13 years old and over)
Food Preparer: Wrap burgers/hotdogs from roller or warmer, serve French fries, prep nachos, popcorn, etc. (Must be over 13 years old)
Cashier: Ring ALL cash or credit purchases on the register.
Home Run Runner: Grab drinks from cooler, grab chips, grab pickles from fridge, refill chip roller and run to get anything else that would be helpful to the concession volunteers. (12 years and older)
Note: The manager or board member will place till in the register drawer and all other machines.
Note: The closing volunteer, along with manager or board member, will place deposit in safe and close down the register, as well as ensure all machines are in the off position.
