Background Checks and Training
Union Park Little League is committed to providing a safe environment for all players.
To comply with Little League policies and Florida state law, all volunteers
must complete required background screening and training before participating.
Volunteers may not participate in practices, games, or league activities until all requirements are completed and approved.
Who Is Required to Complete Background Checks
Background checks and training are required for all volunteers, including but not limited to:
- Managers and Assistant Coaches
- Team Parents
- Umpires
- Board Members
- Concession Stand Volunteers
- Any volunteer with regular access to players
Florida Level 2 Background Check Requirement
In the state of Florida, volunteers working with youth are required to complete a
Level 2 background check with fingerprinting.
- Includes state and national criminal history screening
- Requires electronic fingerprinting through an approved provider
- Results are reviewed confidentially by league leadership
Important: A Level 1 background check is not sufficient.
Fingerprinting is required to meet Florida compliance standards.
Little League Volunteer Application
All volunteers must complete the Little League Volunteer Application annually.
This application authorizes the league to conduct required background screening.
- Applications are submitted online through SportsConnect
- Must be completed each season
- Information is kept confidential
Required Training
In addition to background screening, Little League requires specific training to help
protect players and support a positive environment.
- Abuse Awareness Training
- League safety training, as applicable
- Role-specific training (coaching, umpiring, concessions, etc.)
Note: Training links and instructions are provided after volunteer registration
and may vary by role.
Approval and Participation
A volunteer is considered approved only after:
- Volunteer application is submitted
- Level 2 background check with fingerprinting is completed
- Required training is completed
- League approval is granted
Volunteers who do not complete these requirements may not participate in any league activities.
Privacy and Confidentiality
Background check results and personal information are handled confidentially and reviewed only
by authorized league officials in accordance with Little League policy and applicable law.
