Safety Policies
Union Park Little League is committed to providing a safe environment for all players, families, and volunteers.
Safety is a shared responsibility across the league, and we follow Little League safety standards, required training,
and best practices for facility and game-day operations.
Safety concerns should be reported immediately. If a situation is urgent, call 911 first.
Core Safety Standards
- Player safety comes first. Winning is always secondary to safety, development, and sportsmanship.
- Proper equipment is required. Players must use approved protective gear and appropriate equipment for their division.
- Adult supervision is mandatory. Players must be supervised at practices, games, and league activities.
- Safe facilities and fields. Unsafe conditions will result in delays, relocation, or cancellation.
- Consistent communication. Coaches and league officials will communicate schedule changes and safety updates promptly.
Volunteer Screening and Training
To protect our players and comply with Little League requirements, all volunteers must complete the required screening and training
before participating in any role involving player contact or access.

Injuries and Medical Incidents
If an Injury Occurs
- Stop play if necessary and provide immediate assistance
- Notify a manager, coach, or Board Member right away
- If urgent or life-threatening, call 911 immediately
- Parents or guardians will be notified as soon as possible

Incident Documentation
The league documents safety incidents to support follow-up, improve safety procedures, and comply with reporting requirements.
- Incident reporting is handled by the Safety Officer or designated league official
- Information is handled confidentially and used for safety purposes only
- Follow-up may include equipment checks, field reviews, or updated procedures

Weather Safety and Field Conditions
Games and practices may be delayed or canceled due to lightning, severe weather, or unsafe field conditions.
We follow established safety guidelines and will prioritize player and spectator safety at all times.
- Lightning and severe weather will result in delays or cancellation
- Wet or unsafe fields may be closed to prevent injuries and protect the playing surface
- Schedule changes are communicated through the website and team communications
Equipment and Dugout Safety
Player Equipment Expectations
- Players must use appropriate protective gear for their division
- Bats must meet division requirements
- Catchers must wear full catcher’s gear during live pitching
- Players should remain aware of bats and balls at all times
Dugout and On-Deck Safety
- Only authorized players and coaches are permitted in the dugout
- Players must remain inside the dugout and avoid swinging bats in confined areas
- Warm-up swings and practice throws must occur only in designated areas
- Coaches are responsible for maintaining order and attention in the dugout
Child Protection and Conduct Expectations
Union Park Little League expects all participants to maintain a safe and respectful environment.
Bullying, intimidation, and inappropriate conduct are not tolerated.

- Concerns regarding behavior should be reported promptly
- Disciplinary action may be taken when conduct is detrimental to player safety or the league environment
